Biography

Jonathan Van Tulleken’s short films have been described by Time Out as “exquisite shorts”, by Now Magazine as “chillingly effective and perfectly executed” and by The Guardian as “beautifully shot”.

He has been nominated for a BAFTA for Best Short Film and his work has been selected for a wide number of international film festival amongst them Toronto, Slamdance and Edinburgh as well as the BBC Short Film Awards and the Virgin Media Short Finals. They have featured, amongst others Kevin Spacey, Terry Jones, Anna Chancellor,Rebecca Hall as well as Edinburgh Comedy Award Winners Kirsten Schaal, Tom Basden and Tim Key.

Recently his films have been bought by Hat Tricks Productions, Greenestreet Films as well as the BBC and been picked to be screen in over 200 cinemas in the UK over the next year. In ’09 he was picked by Creativity magazine as one of their top 10 new directors to watch. He has been the recipient of the UK Film Council New Cinema Award and he made the films for Tim Key’s Slutcracker which was the ’09 winner of the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award.

He has just finished his largest short film project to date Off Season with the help of Working Title and The UK Film Council. Jonathan has an MFA in Film Directing and Writing from Columbia University Film School. He is signed with United Agents in London and Hooligan Filmworks in Toronto.
